Letter: Neighborhood meetings first, poll voting on budget later

To the editor:

The committee on appropriations has a refreshing idea in the neighborhood meetings.

After all the neighborhood meetings are completed, the financial town meeting could be a discussion only, comprised of questions brought up at the neighborhood meetings that may need more clarification, compiled from those meetings and then new financial expenses that are slated for the new fiscal year. (Please note: a discussion only!)

The optimum would be to have the financial town meeting held in an open space — under a tent, for instance — so all of us could have a say and be included in the town’s affairs. Then, at a later date, the polls would be opened for all to place their votes as citizens of the whole town of Barrington.
