Permit me to add my two cents to what I believe is a most worthwhile building initiative on the corner of State and Thames streets. One has to work extra hard to find a downside to this construction project.
As hard as I try, I can find only positives. The building design and intended uses blend in just fine with the downtown. The project certainly is lightyears ahead of the current image and non-use of this empty corner lot. I am not at all certain of what the naysayers are looking for.
Economic development is not about peoples’ feelings or emotions. The issue of build or not build must be decided on what is in the best objective economic interests of our town. An empty lot does nothing for our tax base. The project should be approved.
