Letter: Now is a great time to install solar panels

To the editor:

In 2016 my husband and I took advantage of the Solarize Barrington program and installed solar panels on our home. At the same time, we began leasing an electric Volt, with gas backup, which is charged each night in the garage. For the past year and a half, our electric bills have decreased, the Volt registers as getting 220 miles to the gallon, and we receive periodic checks back from National Grid for the power our panels generate.

We have never regretted our decision to go solar.

Barrington is the first town in RI to be chosen for a second round of the state-sponsored program, and I was fortunate to be included in the group who interviewed and chose Sol Power as Solarize Barrington’s exclusive installer, a requirement of the state.

Sol Power is a RI-based, employee-owned company with an impeccable customer service reputation.

The Solarize Barrington program is offered during a limited time and is based on a tiered purchasing system, i.e. the more people who sign up, the lower the overall cost is for everyone.

That is the good news. The bad news is that time is running out to take advantage of the incentives offered through the program, and with the recent 30 percent tariff placed on solar panels by the present administration (which will have no affect on the current pricing of installations through Solarize Barrington), the cost of solar may never be this low again.

All the more reason to request a free home visit and proposal.

If you have ever contemplated or just wondered about solar, now is the time to look into it.

For more information or to sign up for the program, go to www.solarizeri.com/barrington or call Sol Power: 401-680-0765.

I would venture to say you will not regret your decision, either.
