Letter: Outrageous last-minute changes by developer

To the editor:

Kudos to Louise Durfee for pointing out the outrageous changes proposed at the last possible minute by Carpionato.  Substantive changes should be reviewed by the planning and zoning board who are charged with making a recommendation to the council before a vote.

I believe we now have a question of process as well as quality of life in Tiverton — elected officials' responsibility to respond to the will of the voters, and the disclosures provided by the developer of the proposed mall.  Any councillor who votes for these changes ignores due process and the will of the residents who have been adamant in their opposition so should be drummed out of office.

Kudos also to Renee Jones and her committee for their diligent efforts to keep this important issue front and center and to make it impossible, one hopes, for the council to ignore the views of Tiverton residents.
