Kudos and support to the two Westport Police Officers who attempted to stop a speeding motorcyclist on Route 6 at 2 a.m. last week.
I understand from what I have read in the local newspapers that now two investigations will be conducted to see if the officers acted according to Westport Police Department protocol and practice. The motorcycle driver’s family are now questioning if the police acted in the safest way to arrest him.
Here's a question for the family of the offender: What about the safety of all who travel that corridor of Route 6? Can you imagine what might have happened had the motorcyclist continued at close to 100 mph through the sharp curve and construction zone at the intersection of Beeden Road and Route 6? Innocent drivers could have been killed or maimed.
What Officer Levesque did to save other innocent drivers is commendable. Whatever the outcome of the investigations, this Westport resident will always be grateful for our cops!
