To the editor:
To the Barrington Town Council and Tax Assessor — please cite what federal, state, or town law grants you the right to require any taxpayers of Barrington to supply you their prior year's tax return or similar verifiable documentation of their income or sources?
The president of the United States of America does not have to share his income sources to anyone.
So why are you requiring the senior citizens of Barrington "over-65" to supply you this information? Your action is simply elderly discrimination.
The Barrington Town Council does not want to admit publicly that it is this council's intension to eliminate the elderly property tax exemptions effective next tax year.
