Letter: Proud to be both Pro-Life and Pro-Woman

Posted

To the editor:

I am a pro-life woman. I believe that an unborn child deserves the protection of our Constitution, especially the right to life. I believe that the acceptance of abortion as a “right” (legally or morally) is a destroyer of peace and love in our community and in our world.

I am an engineer. Throughout my career, I have demanded the same pay and opportunities as my male colleagues. My daughter will soon be a doctor; my husband and sons respect women, both socially and professionally.

I support strong, educated women. I support the protection of life for all unborn children.  These are not mutually exclusive.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
