Regarding poop bags on poles:

In a 200-unit luxury 3BR/3B gated condo community in Northeastern Florida, we have the added affront of a resident tying their dogs’ poop (yes, two dogs) up in a plastic poop disposal bags and throwing them into our large water retention pond. It floats there for days until retrieved by another resident, or comes apart and empties its contents polluting the pond.

We too, have published in our monthly newsletter, repeated entreaties to please clean up and properly dispose, into the three (3) disposal sites that we have installed around the property for this purpose. They are emptied every week.

But, as you too have experienced first hand, in your “classy town,” there are lowlife trashy dog owners living among us. People like this disrespect their own existence.

I believe that the only way to hold dog owners responsible for the pickup and proper disposal of their own dog’s feces is for community wide, statewide, nationwide, DNA testing for all dogs. There is a company doing this. It's called PooPrints. You can Google it. The results are impressive. And we know that DNA identification is as good as it gets.

Here, this suggestion was received with “Invasion of (my dog’s) privacy”, “Intrusive”, “Gestapo tactics.” The idea was rejected.

So, good luck to you and Julie Gerstenblatt. And in the meantime, bon appetit! And don’t blame the dogs.
