Letter: Thanks for an overwhelmingly positive Porch Fest

The organizers of the 2018 High Street Porch Music Fest would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who came together last Sunday to enjoy porches, neighbors, and music.

Thank you to all the homeowners who offered up their lovely front porches, all the musicians who shared their talent and song, and all the spectators who danced, sang along, and respectfully enjoyed an afternoon along High Street. And to our Arts in Common partner who supported the event.

Also, we extend a special thanks to the Bristol Police for their dedication in keeping the unexpected crowd safe. The attendance at this first Bristol Porchfest far surpassed our expectations!

There is a great deal of enthusiasm for a Bristol Porchfest 2019. And we are onboard to make that happen. If you are interested in being on our mailing list, email us at bristolporchfest@gmail.com.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
