To the editor:
Those filing for the new senior tax exemption be aware that you are sending a treasure trove of information to the office of the assessor.
Consisting of: Name, address, SS number, e-mail address, household size, gross income, certified, and it's specific sources, and a copy of your federal income tax return.
In addition, all this information has to be updated each year. The hacking world must be salivating!
What chance does the assessor's office have to protect this treasure from them when federal government, major companies, and Equifax were not able to do so.
I hope the Barrington Town Council takes note of this danger.
I, for one, will freeze my accounts in the three credit companies.
