Letter: Tiverton athletic community shines bright

On behalf of the Tiverton Athletics Boosters Club, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made our fourth annual charity golf tournament a huge success. The fundraising event took place on May 20 at Swansea Country Club.

No one drove away with the “hole in one car” generously donated by Route 44 Hyundai, but it was fun to see someone receive the autographed Edelman jersey.

We had a full field, with many more joining us for dinner. It was great to see Administration, Guidance, Teaching Staff, Students and Alumni all coming together to raise money for our athletes. Tiger Pride was again on full display.

We are truly grateful for our amazing sponsors for their tremendous generosity.

It was wonderful to see elected officials showing great pride in their community.  Tiverton Town Council member Randy Lebeau not only attended, but was out on the course participating. School Committee members Sally Black and Elaine Pavao made their usual rounds, interacting with everyone.

The Tiverton Police Department, including retired police chief Thomas Blakey and four officers, were all there to show their enthusiasm and support of our student athletes.

Lastly, we greatly appreciate the help of a number of businesses, coaches and friends who supported our event. Thank you to coaches Andy Gacioch, Bill Phillips and Adam Tracey for their endless support, and Cycology Studio, Michelle Pasquale (Petscort), Patricia Brigham, Kris Welchmen, Elaine Pavao and Cara Hart for providing outstanding items for our raffle tables.

The Tiverton Athletic Boosters Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports, encourages and advances the athletic programs at Tiverton High School.

“Our mission is to promote positive parent and community involvement in the support of the Tiverton Tigers’ athletic program. This involvement consists of both volunteer service and the financial support required to foster the development of our athletes; and to maintain the history and the tradition of excellence in academics, character, and sportsmanship.”

We look forward to seeing everyone next year.
