Letter: We need to watch the committee as closely as we watch the parade

To the editor:

As I read the article in the Bristol Phoenix concerning the parade route, I would like to comment on the following portion:

"Michael Ursillo, the committee's legal counsel, responded in full, as did Fran O'Donnell, committee vice chairwoman. The two explained to the attorney general that the first vote to shorten the route was not properly advertised. To correct this, the committee advertised and held a standing-room only revote meeting on Jan. 14, 2016."

So my interpretation is that knowingly not only was the first meeting conducted, but also choose to conduct a vote. It is also my opinion that a second meeting was conducted only because the results were all over the news, from here to Independence, Missouri, and the people of Bristol were about to explode. Thank you, concerned people of Bristol. It's time to watch our parade and watch our committees.
