To the editor:

The Westport Community Preservation Committee invites all interested parties to attend our September 14 meeting at 7:10 pm on the second floor of the Town Hall.

A public informational hearing will be held to study the needs, possibilities and resources of the town regarding community preservation.  The committee will be discussing what projects should be recommended to town meeting for acquisition, preservation, or rehabilitation of open space, historical resources, recreation and community housing funding in the coming year.

The CPC invites the public’s input on the types of projects you believe to be significant to Westport.  New ideas or the reaffirmation of ongoing projects will facilitate our decision making process.  Please participate in helping the CPC plan their appropriations for the future.  As always thank you for volunteering your time and caring about the future of Westport.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
