The voters of Bristol approved a bond issue for a new marina on the east side of the harbor. From what I hear, there are more than 100 Bristol residents on the waiting list eager to get a slip.

I am fortunate to have a  slip at the Church Street dock for my skiff and a mooring for my sailboat in the harbor.

As we prepare our taxes and look at our expenses, we also look at our boating expenses for the previous year and we are always amazed by the amount of money that we spend on boating.

Supplies from Jamestown Distributors, sandwiches from Goglia’s and Riccotti’s, storage at Bristol Marine, engine and repairs at PK Marine, Straight Answer Mooring Service, beer at Mt. Hope and 1776  Liquors, fuel at Bristol Express, dock/mooring fees to Town of Bristol, dues to Bristol Yacht Club.  We use local tradesmen for painting, diesel maintenance, repairs, winterizing, and spring outfitting.  

Every boat at a slip generates money for the town and the local economy. It seems to me that town officials should do whatever possible to get this approved and funded project up and running, as this would be huge shot in the arm for the local economy and the only bond issue that generates income for the town.
