Louise St. Clair Igo Goetz, age 97, of Bristol, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Manor of Bristol, R.I.

Born in Bane, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Stafford) St. Clair.  

Louise was a very caring person who was always willing to help someone in need. She worked for 25 years as a CNA for the Carriage House Nursing Home in Middletown

She leaves behind by her children: Rebecca L. Stafford of Portsmouth, R.I., Charles E. Igo and his wife Janet of Portsmouth, R.I., and Teresa L. Helger and her husband Alfred of Little Compton, R.I.

Louise was the sister of Ruth Robertson and Mary Day, both of Pearisburg, Va. She was the grandmother of Melissa, Michele, John, Mark, Joshua, Andrew, Jaclyn and Molly; as well as the great-grandmother of Becca, Morgan, Olivia, Arela, Carver, Addison, Simon and Benjamin, and great-great-grandmother of Carter.

Services will be private.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 or to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
