Lydia Isabel (Viera) Toevs, 95, of Maple Lane, passed away on March 26, 2017 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center. She was the wife of the late Monroe “Bud” Toevs.
Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Silva) Viera. She was the mother of Kenneth (Sandra) Toevs, Norman (Elaine) Toevs and Thomas (Lillian) Toevs; grandmother of Joseph Toevs, Kenneth Toevs Jr., Cheryl Toevs, Eric Toevs, Erin Toevs, Ryan Toevs, Stephen Toevs and Gregory Toevs; and great grandmother of Sklyer, Kayden, Thomas, Arden, Lyla and Nolan. She was the sister of Olga Oliver and also leaves four loving nieces.
Mrs. Toevs was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and worked for Fleet Bank as a teller for 20 years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.
Her funeral services were held March 29 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth’s Church. The liturgical readings were by Stephen Toeves and Jane Farnsworth, who also read The Prayer of the Faithful. The offertory gifts were presented by Tom Toevs, Norman Toevs and Ken Toevs. Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Eric Toevs, Ryan Toevs, Stephen Toevs, Greg Toevs, Kenneth Toevs Jr. and Seth Faraone.
