Mable Capra, affectionately known as Glo, died surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016 at age 85. She was the widow of Roy Capra, deceased in 2012. She and Roy lived in Ashland, MA, for over 50 years, where they raised a family and a succession of well-loved Brittney spaniels.

Glo moved to Bagy Wrinkle Cove in Warren, RI in 2012, and resided for the past two years at Atria Bay Spring Village in Barrington, RI.

For many years, Glo was a successful real estate broker and entrepreneur in the Metrowest area. As a woman of her era, she was ahead of her time in personally renovating and providing decent affordable housing.

She was an expert gardener; she planted and tended impressive, impeccable gardens wherever she lived. Other unique talents arising from her Kentucky origins included furniture restoration, quilting and braiding rugs. She had great taste and a good eye, and saw potential for beauty where others could not — in empty spaces and cast-aside objects. She passed this ability down to her children.

She believed in giving back, and volunteered for over a decade with the American Cancer Society and Salvation Army.

Glo had a quiet and humble demeanor, but was a feminist, environmentally conscious, and fiercely outspoken about equal rights for all people.

She leaves behind three daughters: Cindy Capra and her husband Mike Seward of Barrington, RI, Judy Capra-Petercuskie and her husband John Petercuskie of Cape Cod, and Nancy Jones of Stallings, NC. Glo adored her grandchildren, Curtis Capra, Caylin Capra- Thomas, Shane Capra, Erin Capra, Jesse Machado and Aly Jones. Her grandchildren have fond memories of enjoying many escapades with their “Mudder.”

Her family feels incredibly fortunate to have been influenced by all that was Glo.

There will be a private memorial for family.

Donations in lieu of flowers to Doctors Without Borders.
