Maria do Rosario (Meneses) Aguiar, 88, of Catherine Street passed away on May 25 at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Antonio Borges Aguiar.
Born in Praia da Victoria, Terceira, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel de Sousa and Maria Salome (dos Reis) de Meneses. She was the mother of Eliseu Aguiar, Maria C. Drumonde, Francisco M. Aguiar, Maria deFatima Figueiredo, Isabel Aguiar and Fernando A. Aguiar; grandmother of Roberto, Flavio, Jennifer, Alex, Leslie, Melissa, Pamela, Tony, Corey, Trevor, Tyler and A.J.; and great grandmother of 18. She was the sister of the late Manuel Meneses and Jose Meneses.
Mrs. Aguiar attended school in Portugal and was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church.
Her funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 10 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours are Friday, 4-7 p.m.
