Maria Gloria Barreiro, 79, of Bristol

Maria Gloria (Chora) Barreiro, 79, of Hope Street passed away on January 18, 2018, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of Jose Barreiro.   

Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Leonor (Pavao) Chora. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Maria A. Medeiros, Lenora Barreiro, Rose Silveira, Elizabeth Machado and her husband Peter, Pauline Berretto and Joseph Barreiro; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Teresa Carvalho and the late Jose Chora, Manuel Chora, Ascencao Pereira and Maria doCarmo Chora. 

Mrs. Barreiro was educated in Portugal and worked for Converse before retiring.

Her funeral services were held Jan. 22, from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard A. Narciso at St. Elizabeth’s Church.

Liturgical readings were by Kassie Medeiros and Theresa Merritt. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Melissa Barreiro. The offertory gifts were presented by Gabriella Barreiro, Francisca Barreiro and Leah Medeiros. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Carlos Medeiros, James Medeiros, Wayne Medeiros, Jason Machado, Kevin Machado, Curtis Papa and Vincent Berretto.
