Marion L. Ouellette, 95, Westport

Marion L. (Austin) Ouellette, 95, of Westport, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and friends on Monday, March 20, 2017.  She was wife of the late Rene J. "Mick" Ouellette.

Born in Westport, daughter of the late Forrest E. and Bessie M. (Taber) Austin, she was a lifelong resident of Westport. 

A graduate of Westport High School, she worked as a clerk for the Naval Torpedo Station in Newport, RI during World War II.  Mrs. Ouellette worked many summers at the Westport Point Market. She retired from the Milton E. Earle School as a cafeteria worker after 16 1/2 years of employment and ultimately retired in 2000 from the Westport Apothecary where she worked as a clerk and buyer for 25 years. 

Survivors include several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was mother of the late Ronald M. Ouellette; sister of the late Thelma E. Hebden and the late Hilda Reed; and half-sister of the late June Janey.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Friday, March 24, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 11:30 a.m.

Calling hours will be Friday, at the funeral home, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
