Marion Miranda, 97, of Bristol

Mrs. Marion (Chionchio-Principe) Miranda, 97, a lifelong Bristol resident, passed on to eternal life on March 10, 2018. Marion was the beloved wife of the late John Miranda for 54 years. She was the daughter of the late Matteo and Frances (Cirillo) Principe.

Marion was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society and the Rosary and Altar Society. She was a former member of the OLMC School PTG and a longtime volunteer for the annual Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Marion was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Hope Circle.
Marion was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her only son, John Miranda, and his wife Margaret; three grandsons, Joseph (Kara), Jon (Maureen) and Benjamin (Paola) Miranda, and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was the sister of the late Anthony, John, Thomas and Matthew Principe and Margaret Andrade.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Friday,

March 16, 2018, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI 02809 or to the Mother of Life Center, 400 Atwells Ave., Providence, RI 02909, or online at www.motheroflife.org.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
