Marvin Lee Ryherd, 90, formerly of Barrington

Marvin Lee Ryherd, age 90, of Pace, Fla. and formerly a long-time resident of Barrington, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. 

Marvin was born in Leavenworth, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas City-MO with a BA in physics and from the University of Dayton Ohio with an MBA. He served in the Merchant Marines then the Coast Guard and the US Army at the end of World War II. He worked as an engineer for the National Cash Register Company researching how cash registers could be computerized. He then worked as an EDP Auditor for several companies including Monet. Marvin enjoyed creating metal sculptures out of cut nails and sheet metal using an oxyacetylene torch.

After retiring, Marvin enjoyed salmon fishing in Alaska, traveling, bird-watching, and reading. He was a long-time volunteer at the Barrington Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Pat, his daughter Cathleen, his sons Eric and Mike, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother William Ryherd. 

Memorials may be made to the Barrington Public Library or to the Barrington Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held in May 2018.
