Mary G. Cintolo, 97, of Bristol

Mrs. Mary G. (St. George) Cintolo, age 97, of Beach Road, Bristol, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late John Cintolo, her husband of 44 years who preceded her in death in January of 1998.

Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Tindaro and Rosaria (Lopresti) St. George. Mary was a telephone operator for the Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth for a number of years, retiring in 1985. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Cintolo and John P. Cintolo (Dorothy), both of Bristol; a granddaughter, Erin A. Ward (Britt) of Warren, and two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Grayson Ward. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Alessandro and Ann Puniello, and a brother, Joseph A. St. George.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are Monday, Jan. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, or to the Groden Center, 610 Manton Ave., Providence, RI  02909.  For online condolences, shared memories, information and directions go to www.sansonefuneralhome.com.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
