Mary Gloria Silva, 96, of Bristol

Mary Gloria (Soares) Silva, 96, of Bristol passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Silver Creek Manor surrounded by her adoring family.

Born in Calhetas, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria daConceicao (da Costa) Soares. She was the mother of Idailda Silva, Joseph F. Silva, Louis A. Silva (Colleen), Marian Beckman (Henry), Belmira McGowan (Louis), Mary Mitchell (Bill), Lucy Silva and Susan Derksen (Bruce); grandmother of Michael Medeiros, Steven Medeiros, Janet Medeiros, Joseph Silva, William Silva, Matthew Silva, Katelyn Silva, Thomas Beckman, Audrey Hoppe, Kris Boston, Stacy Swett, Bridget Derksen and Shannon Derksen; and nurturing great-grandmother of 12.

Mrs. Silva was educated in Portugal and worked for Premier Thread before retiring. She was passionate about caring for her family, loved gardening and cooking, and was an expert seamstress and crocheter.

Her funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 16, from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Garcia Dutra at St. Elizabeth’s Church

Liturgical readings were by Kylie Swett and Katelyn Silva. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Kris Boston. The offertory gifts were presented by Janet Medeiros and Stacy Swett. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Medeiros, Steven Medeiros, William Silva, Thomas Beckman, Michael Swett and Trevor Peters.
