Mrs. Mary “Mamie” (Silvia) Silva, age 97, of River Street and formerly of Bourne Street, Bristol, died Monday, July 2, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Daniel “Rocky” Silva, her husband of 65 years who preceded her in death in January of 2008.

Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude (Perry) Silvia. Mary was a housekeeper for several private families and previously to that worked for a number of years at the former Crown Fastener Company.

She was a communicant and former Eucharistic Minister of St. Elizabeth’s Church, Bristol. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality at the church and a member for many years of the former House of Judah Prayer Group. She was a volunteer for many years for Meals On Wheels and the Helping Hand Soup Kitchen, formerly in Bristol.

She is survived by two children, Gertrude S. Bastanzi (Robert Tettreault) of Rumford, and Daniel Silva, Jr. (Denise), of Bristol; five grandchildren, Paul Silva, Larry and Heath Bastanzi, Felix J. Langello, III and Danielle Stroessner; five great-grandchildren, Paul Daniel, Christopher Joseph, Maya Jean, Avery Jean and Edyn Jean; and a sister, Ida Silva of Bristol.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Langello (Felix J. Langello, Jr. of Portsmouth) and three brothers; Joseph, Albert and Manuel Silvia.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral  Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 10: a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street. Visitation will be Saturday morning only starting at 9 a.m.
