Mary S. Brooks, 91, of East Providence

Mary S. (Baker) Brooks, 91, of East Providence, formerly of Prudence Island, died peacefully on Dec. 2, 2017, at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Raymond H. Baker and Jessie L. (Cole) Baker.

Ms. Brooks was a Laboratory Technician at Rhode Island Hospital for many years until her retirement.  She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Bristol, where she sang in the choir. She was the organist and choir member of Union Church in Prudence Island.

She leaves her loving children, Richard D. Brooks (Marsha) of Prudence Island, J. Beryl Brooks of Tybee Island, Ga., Philip D. Brooks (Mary Dondero) of Rehoboth, and Ellen Brooks Williams of Franklin, N.C. She was cherished grandmother of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Susan Baker Howard of Eaton, Ohio, and the late Raymond H. Baker and Edwin Baker.

Her Requiem Eucharist will be held Friday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 399 Hope St., Bristol. Burial in Spring Vale Cemetery will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 399 Hope St., Bristol, RI 02809 will be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to J.H.
