Mt. Hope girls soccer trounces Barrington, 6-1

The Mt. Hope Soccer team trounced Barrington, 6-1, at Victory Field on Friday night. Huskies junior striker, Michaela Goglia scored three goals adding to her team leading total, 9 goals for

the season. Sophomore forward Olivia Medeiros scored two goals and sophomore Georgia Teixeira scored one. The Huskies put 11 shots on Eagles freshman goalkeeper Patricia Ceseretti. Huskies goalkeepers Sam Tyler and Thea Brum combined to make 11 saves. Barrington's goal was scored by senior midfielder Emily Rosenlof.

The Huskies lead Division I East with a 5-3 record, while the Eagles drop to 0-7-1.

Mt. Hope hosts North Kingstown on Tuesday 9/29, at 5 p.m. at Thomas Vendituoli Field.

Barrington hosts East Greenwich onTuesday 9/29, at 5 p.m. at Victory Field.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
