Mt. Hope outscored Barrington 129.85-116.95 in a meet on Saturday at Prestige Gymnastics in Seekonk. With top gymnast Meghan Oliver taking a bit of a rest, Jayme Foreman led the team with an all-around score of 33. 85, scoring a 8.5 on vault, 8.05 on bars, 8.4 on beam and an 8.7 on floor.

“Jayme is one of our top all-arounders. She has been scoring very well,” said Head Coach Nicole Daniello.

“She rolled her ankle on floor right before the season started. She pulled all of the ligaments in her ankle so she was out,” said the coach.

Foreman wasn’t expected back until the state meet, but with hard work she has come back much sooner than expected. “Jayme has been back for three meets now and has been one of our top scorers,” said coach Daniello.

Meghan Oliver scored a 9.1 on floor, an 8.3 on bars and a 7.05 on beam. Oliver’s beam score was low, as she has scored a 9.5 on beam earlier this season. She did not expect to compete on beam this meet, but had to fill in when Kaitlin Quinn turned her ankle warming up, said coach Daniello.

“Meghan has been competing all-around in just about every meet, plus running track. So we wanted to give her a bit of a break, but when Katie went down in warm ups, She had to fill in on floor and beam,” said coach Daniello, adding, Meghan looked great on floor, she performed a double-full on her first pass. It is her strongest event.”

Kaitlin Quinn, also an all-around gymnast, rolled her ankle warming up on beam. Coach Daniello is hopeful that she can compete next weekend with just two more regular season meets before states.

“Meghan, Jayme and Kailtin are crucial for states,” the coach said as the team vies for it’s third straight D-II championship.

Seniors Ashley Heald and Brianna Gendreau scored well during the meet. Heald competed on vault scoring an 8.3, on bars scoring a 7.3 and on beam scoring a 8.35. Gendreau competed on vault scoring an 8.4 and on beam scoring a 7.8.

“Ashley and Brianna performed well,” said coach Daniello. Ashley, despite dealing with a foot injury, is attempting to compete in all-around at states, said coach Daniello.

The Huskies are now 7-0 and face Middletown, Portsmouth and Prout at the Newport YMCA on Friday at 7 p.m.
