The Mt. Hope football team pounded Coventry, 28-7, in a Division II-A game in front of a large crowd at Thomas Vendituoli Field on Friday night. Junior running back Corey Cardoso scored two

touchdowns and ran for 128 yards on 18 carries to lead the Huskies. Down 7-0, Cardoso ripped off a 49-yard run down the Coventry sideline to tie the score at 7-7. Huskies junior quarterback Vincent Berretto led the Huskies on a long drive before scoring on a 14-yard scamper to make it 14-7. In the second half, senior kick returner Tezhan Calhoun-Massey ran a punt back 65-yards for a score and Cardoso finished the scoring with a 30-yard touchdown run. Kicker Josh Canario made all four PAT conversions.

The Huskies win boosts their record to 3-4 in Division II-A and 4-5 overall.

Coventry drops to 2-5 and 2-7.

At halftime, the East Bay Warriors Tiny Mites put on a scrimmage for the audience before the Mt. Hope Marching Band took the field.
