A new Dunkin’ Donuts planned to be built directly in front of an existing Dunkin’ Donuts got a favorable recommendation from the Bristol Planning Board and now heads to the Zoning Board for approval.
Christopher Prazeres, of Seeking, Mass., plans to build the new Dunkin’ drive-thru in Gooding Plaza at Hope Street and Gooding Avenue. The new, 1,200 square-foot building would face Hope Street and be located between Bank Newport and the Defiance Fire station, in front of the existing coffee and donut shop in the plaza’s main building.
Mr. Prazeres said the main motivation for building the new location is to add a drive-through, which the current location lacks. He said he also plans to make drainage and aesthetic improvements to the plaza.
The building will be on town-owned land directly adjacent to the Defiance station. There was some concern about parking for the firefighters who use the area for their cars. The Defiance station plot has just six spots on its lot. Town Administrator Antonio Teixeira acknowledged the new Dunkin’ Donuts would be in the area they park, but said there will still be plenty of room behind the station and around the plaza for their cars.
The Planning Board recommended approval with some minor changes to the plan. The Zoning Board next meets Tuesday, Sept. 6.
