Newport Navy choral concert

The Newport Navy Choristers, under the direction of Lori McDowell will present “Proudly We Sing” on Friday, April 26 at 7:30 PM at St Mary’s Church, 12 William St, in downtown Newport.
A non-profit group consisting of many active and retired military service members and their families, the chorus will perform a repertoire of patriotic and popular songs that will appeal to everyone.
The chorus has been performing concerts to benefit local charitable and civic groups since 1953. The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society will be the beneficiary of the proceeds from this performance.
Tickets are: $20 for adults, seniors $15, children $10 and can be purchased from a chorus member or at the door.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
