Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Albert and Alice (Fournier) Michaud and had resided in Westport for most of his life. A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the United States Navy.

The Michaud family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at both Brandon Woods of Dartmouth and New England Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Normand and for their extended hospitality to his family.

Survivors, along with his wife, include his three step-sons, George Carpenter and his companion Kristine Kane of Florida, Paul Carpenter and his wife Marian “Beth” of Westport, and William Carpenter and his companion Robin Watts of Westport; one step-daughter, Catherine Gibson-Carvalho and her husband Tony of Westport; eight step-grandchildren, Heidi Lecomte and her husband Shawn, Philip Gibson, Elizabeth Carpenter-Higgins and her husband Matthew, George J.
