EAST PROVIDENCE — Members of the City Council and the Beautification Commission were among those who gathered for the unveiling of a new "Welcome to East Providence" sign on Willett Avenue, across from the Rite Aid Pharmacy Plaza, on Monday, Nov. 16.
According to Commission Christine Perreira, a few years ago Exxon Mobil appropriated funds for the placing of an East Providence/Riverside sign, at a location to be determined. Once the Beautification Commission became active again, its first goal was to get this sign approved and installed. With the help of Director of Public Works Steve Coutu, Community Development Coordinator David Bachrach, and the entire Beautification Commission committee, this was made possible. Ms. Pereira also offered a special thanks to RoadSafe Signs for its design work.
