The fourth-seed Tiverton boys soccer team has a Division III semifinal date with top seed Cranston East Wednesday thanks to a thrilling Friday night victory over fifth seed Davis decided by penalty kicks.

Playing at home, the Tigers scored first at the 16-minute mark on a goal by Griffin Tefley.

But Davies fired right back scoring in the opening minute of the second half.

The game remained tied at 1-1 through regulation forcing the deciding round of penalty kicks.

Goaltender Chad Carreiro made a superb save to give Tiverton the opening it needed and the Tigers didn’t waste the opportunity. All five Tiverton kickers hit the back of the net giving the home team a 5-4 penalty kick edge and the victory.

In the penalty kicks, fourth-seeded Tiverton scored on all of its kicks for a 5-4 edge. Chad Carreiro, Brennan Tappen, Alec Arruda, Devin Guerrera and Aaron Levesque.

Tiverton’s semifinal game will be played Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Johnston High School.

Cranston East finished the regular season with a Division III best record of 13-2-1 (14-2-1 overall).

Tiverton finished its regular season at 10-2-4 (division and overall).
