Peter Hamilton Scott, 81, of Barrington

Peter Hamilton Scott, 81, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at his home in Palm Coast, Fla. 

Peter was born in Warren in 1936 to Peter J.A. and Rebecca (Hamilton) Scott. Peter lived in Barrington before retiring to Palm Coast. 

Peter was a graduate of Brown University and earned a PhD in chemistry from Lehigh University. He worked in research and development in the plastics industry. 

He was an avid runner and biker and loved to golf and sail. Peter embraced life and was happiest in the company of family and friends. 

Peter is survived by his wife, Carolyn Payne; daughter, Karen (Phillip) Statser of Barrington; sons, Peter D. (Carolyn) Scott of Bolton, Mass. and James A. Scott of Brooklyn, NY; stepson, John (Diana) Payne of Buckhannon, W. Va.; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation through a tribute page for Peter: www3.parkinson.org/goto/phscott36. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at the Barrington Congregational Church, 461 County Road, Barrington RI. Interment will follow at Forest Chapel Cemetery, Barrington.
