Peter James May, 56, of Barrington

Peter James May, 56, of Barrington, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was the husband of Jenifer (Mello) May. Peter was born in Boston, a son of the late Paul and Joan (Kennedy) May.  

Peter was executive vice president of corporate national sales and operations for Incenter, LLC, and worked in the mortgage banking industry for 34 years.

Peter enjoyed spending time with his children, family, friends. He loved boating, gardening, traveling, and time on the beach at Cape Cod. In his spare time, he was mentor to young men in Providence.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his 3 daughters, Jillian, Eliza and Faith May, all of Barrington. He is the brother of Paul May Jr. (late Laura), Susan Leaver (Tom), Marcia Kean (Brian), Paula Duggan, Lisa Richards (Paul), Jennifer Canty, Stephanie Giroux (Lorne), and Amy Holmes (Scott). He was the son-in-law of George and Mary Jane Mello, and brother-in-law of Cynthia Mace (Earle), Patricia Fletcher (Patrick), and Julie Mello. Peter is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, March 21, at 8:30 a.m. from Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, 30 Fenner St., Providence. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Carmelite Monastery, 25 Watson Ave., Barrington, RI, 02806.
