The Townies prep for 2016 season with summer workouts

EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School football team has been prepping for the upcoming season by conducting workouts under the summer sun.

For the better part of the past month and continuing until formal practice can officially begin in late August, the Townies are gathering each Wednesday night at the school for some agility, speed and team-bonding exercises, according to head coach Jay Monteiro.

Also, weight training takes place each Monday and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. The Wednesday night workouts run approximately from 6 to 8 p.m. Coach Monteiro said anyone interested in playing football can attend any of the gatherings.

The accompanying photo gallery reflects the happenings that took place July 20.
