Hendricken knocked out Portsmouth, 85-32, in the elite eight of the Rhode Island High School Basketball State Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Brown University. Portsmouth played with
out their leading scorer Chris Herren, who did not play due to an illness, said a Portsmouth official.
The Hawks started the game with an 11-0 run and never looked back. At the half, Hendricken led 41-21 and expanded their lead by 50 points later in the second half.
Portsmouth junior Shaun Abbatte led the Patriots with 8 points. Junior Matt Clark scored 7 points. Senior Jack Kelly and junior Zack Rahilly each netted 4 points and senior Darnell Taylor scored 3 points.
