The Mt. Hope High School football team snapped an eight-year

Thanksgiving Day losing streak, beating Barrington 35-0 at Victory Field in Barrington on Thursday.

The Huskies wasted little time, taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, and then blew the game open in the second quarter. Mt. Hope capitalized on Barrington turnovers — at one point the Huskies scored and then recovered the ensuing kickoff, scoring again a few plays later.

Mt. Hope held a 35-0 lead at the half, as Corey Cardoso led the way for the Huskies with three rushing touchdowns.

Barrington, which did not win a single game this year and struggled to score touchdowns, kept the Huskies out of the end zone in the second half. The Eagles threatened to score late in the fourth quarter, but ran out of time before finding the end zone.
