Phyllis M. Brown, 81, of Barrington

Phyllis M. Brown, of Barrington, passed at 81 years old on Thursday, April 18, 2019 surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a devoted husband, Charles F. III, two children, Charles IV and Rosemarie Coffey, and their spouses, Ginger Brown and Jim Coffey, as well as 2 grandsons, Kyle & Sean Coffey, all of Barrington. 

Phyllis was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Palumbo of Barrington and sister to the late Frank Jr. 

Phyllis was a lifetime resident of Barrington. She enjoyed the simple joys in life, being with family and friends, being outside in the gardens, feeding the birds and remaining active every day. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Saint Luke's Parish, 108 Washington Road, Barrington. Burial to follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Barrington. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
