Pioneering Sounds: Arcade Fire

Posted by SeekonkLibrary

Do you love to listen and talk about music as much as we do? Come join us as we listen to, discuss, and tackle music across all genres.

So far our group has mostly been looking back at music from the 70s and older. This month we will jump into the 2000s with Arcade Fire's album the Suburbs, which some consider to be among their best work. In the following months we hope to get into progressively more contemporary artists and groups. It will be a very loose theme for the next few months as we explore more modern groups that have a flair for Art Rock.

Our listening group meets on the second to last Tuesday of every month at 6 PM. Come to learn, listen, and/or share!

This program is offered FREE to the public, no registration required.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
