Barrington police and firefighters were kept busy with two incidents 10 minutes apart on Tuesday, June 9. 

At 5:05 p.m. police officers assisted firefighters and EMTs following an accident involving two bicyclists. The accident occurred on the East Bay Bike Path near the intersection with Bay Spring Avenue.

Police said the two bicyclists — an 86-year-old Barrington man, and a 63-year-old Providence man — collided while crossing Bay Spring Avenue. The older man suffered head injuries and was bleeding from his head when officials arrived.

Police said it appeared that no vehicle was involved, and that the cyclists simply collided while crossing the intersection. EMTs transported the 86-year-old man to a hospital.

Police then responded to Barrington Beach for an intoxicated female at about 5:15 p.m. Police received a 911 call from the beach, stating that a woman was unresponsive.

Upon arrival, officials saw the woman — a 19-year-old from Foxboro, Mass. — unconscious. The woman had been accompanied by friend, a 21-year-old female from Taunton, Mass. Police said the Foxboro resident had consumed an entire bottle of Hennessy cognac in a short period of time at the beach. EMTs transported the woman to a hospital.
