East Providence police called Barrington police on Saturday, July 29, in regards to a Pawtucket girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted while at Barrington Beach.

The girl — police did not give her age, but said she was a juvenile — reportedly filed a report with Pawtucket police first. Pawtucket police initially believed the incident took place in East Providence. However, a photo provided by the victim showed that she had likely been at Barrington Beach when the assault occurred.

Police said the alleged sexual assault took place on July 26. The case is still under investigation.
