A passer-by called Barrington police on Saturday, Feb. 17 after spotting people taking clothes out of a donation bin on County Road near the BP Gas Station.
Police officers tracked down the suspect vehicle and spoke to the man and woman inside. The individuals said they had actually been leaving clothes in the bin, not taking them.
Police asked if they could take a look inside the truck and the man gave permission. Officers found a large amount of clothes inside the box truck. The man said he had purchased the clothes at Savers.
Police officers later spoke with the clerk at the gas station to see if she saw the man taking clothes out of the bin. She said she did not. Officers also checked to see if a nearby business had a surveillance camera that may have captured footage of the incident, but it did not.
The man and woman were not charged.
