A Barrington police officer was on routine patrol in the Hampden Meadows area of Barrington early Tuesday morning, May 11, when he spotted something suspicious.

The officer saw two juveniles on Paquin Road — one of the individuals was on a bike while the other was laying on the ground. When the two people saw the police officer, they took off on the bikes and later dumped the bikes and ran into a wooded area. Police searched but could not find them.

A short time later, a resident on Paquin reported a larceny from a motor vehicle — about $15 in loose change had been stolen. Police seized the bikes the individuals had been riding. One of the bikes had been reported stolen from a Broadview Drive home about a month ago. 

At about 6:10 a.m. that morning, a Lillis Avenue resident called police — earlier that morning he spotted someone rummaging through his car. The resident went outside and saw the man walking away and hollered at him, stating “you better get out of here!” 

Also that day, a Stanley Avenue resident called police after discovering that someone had rummaged through his wife’s vehicle the previous night, stealing some loose change.
