Barrington police received a call from the Newbury (Mass.) Police Department regarding a larceny and a fraudulent bank transaction.
The Newbury officer told the Barrington officer that a woman in Massachusetts had been the victim of a larceny from her vehicle on Oct. 12; among the items stolen was a check.
The Newbury police officer said the check had later been cashed at the TD Bank branch in Barrington.
Local police contacted bank officials and retrieved surveillance footage of the woman who cashed the check. The incident is reportedly part of a large-scale ring of larcenies in the region.
Police are asking anyone with more information about the suspect to contact the department at 401-437-3933.
