Barrington Police charged a 16-year-old Barrington girl with disorderly conduct after she allegedly flashed a BB gun at people inside another vehicle. 

Police said the girl was in a car with a friend at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 when they realized another vehicle was following them. The girl allegedly told police she became concerned and later flashed the BB gun at the other vehicle's occupants in an effort to scare them away.

A day later, officials at Barrington High School sent an email to students' parents regarding the incident. It stated, in part, "At no point was there ever a threat to students and staff in the building. Please know that student safety is paramount to administration and staff and that we will be working with the Barrington Police to ensure the continued security of our school community."
