PORTSMOUTH — Mariana McManus of Portsmouth High School won three events as her team handily defeated Bay View and East Providence by scores of 115-38 and 125-28, respectively, during an outdoor track meet at PHS Monday.

McManus took home first place in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter races with times of 13.3, 28.1 and 63.9 seconds, respectively. 

She also teamed with Nikki Merrill, Sophia Piffard and Abby Kaull to win the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 53.5 seconds.

Here are the other winners for PHS:

• Pole vault: Sophia Piffard, 6 feet, 0 inches

• Hammer throw: Megan Sieben, 107 feet, 10 inches

• Long jump: Kerry Lehane, 15 feet, 7 inches

• Triple jump: Kerry Lehane, 34 feet, 6 inches

• 800 meters: Nikki Merrill, 2:21.8

• 1,500 meters: Elizabeth Sullivan, 4:55.3

• 4x400 relay: Nikki Merrill, Sofia White, Grace Cavanagh and Maura Driscoll, 4:27.4

Boys win 7 events

The PHS boys’ track team ended up in a 74-74 tie with East Providence Monday after 18 events. The Patriots won seven events and were powered by Colt Nicholas and Mike Chisholm.

Nichols finished first in both the 110-meter hurdles (16.3 seconds) and 300-meter intermediate hurdles (43.2 seconds). Chisholm took first in the javelin throw with a toss of 101 feet, 9 inches, and also won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.7.

The two athletes also were members of the 4x400-meter relay team, along with Isaac Fox and Ethan Shea, which won that event with a time of 3:40.5.

Other winners for the Patriots were Martin Laskey, who cleared 9 feet, 0 inches in the pole vault; and Ezra Leary, who finished the 3,000 meters in a time of 10:35.6.
