Portsmouth loses game one to North Smithfield, 4-1

The Portsmouth High School hockey team lost game one of the Division II Championship to North Smithfield, 4-1, at Brown University on Thursday evening. The Northmen shot out of the gate and scored three goals in the first period. Northmen Matt Pasquariello, Matt Barrette and Kyle Evangelista scored to make it 3-0 in the first period.

Porstmouth captain Ben O'Hearn scored in the second period to close it to 3-1, but Kyle Evangelista netted his second goal of the game to put the Northmen up by three goals in the third period.

The Northmen lead the series 1-0.

Game two is Saturday at Brown University.
