Portsmouth man charged with two counts of domestic assault

Police arrested a 42-year-old Portsmouth man Sunday, Oct. 22, and charged him with two counts of domestic assault.

Police arrested Richard E. Mendosa, of 3277 East Main Road, after responding to a report of a domestic assault and disturbance at his home around 7:50 p.m.

Here are some other highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week:

Wednesday, Oct. 18

Robert T. Coia, 68, of 3338 East Main Road, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to a report of an assault at Patriot Petroleum on East Main Road around 7:40 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 20

Erica G. Medley, 61, of 300 West Main Road, was charged with willful trespass on school property after being issued a warning. Police arrested her at her home on a warrant at about 9:20 a.m.

Bernardo E. Espinal, 50, of 70 Grosvenor Ave., Providence, was charged on a Superior Court bench warrant after he was pulled over for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Hedly Street around 5:30 p.m. 

Saturday, Oct. 21

Kylie E. Emond, 41, of 2787 East Main Road, Apt. 1, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to a report of a domestic assault/disturbance at this home shortly before 2 a.m.

Monday, Oct. 23

Brenden J. Deprest, 32, of 30 Sakonnet Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated after his vehicle was pulled over for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Freeborn Street at about 1:40 a.m.

Paul M. Eckhart, 67, of 11 Potter St., Newport, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after his vehicle was stopped around 8:10 p.m. at a weigh station on Route 24 South. Police said they had received a call to check the condition of an operator.

Wednesday, Oct. 25

Christopher W. Ormerod, 31, of 150 Sand Pipe Way, North Dighton, Mass., was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) following a motor vehicle accident on Bristol Ferry Road at Brownell Lane around 11:20 a.m. Mr. Ormerod was also cited for refusing a chemical test, police said.

Saturday, Oct. 28

Matthew J. Martens, 31, of 30 Camden Road, Narragansett, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense), after police pulled his vehicle over for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Stringham Road just before midnight. Mr. Martens was also cited for refusing a chemical test and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Sunday, Oct. 29

Richard N. Ferreira, 39, of 45 Dover St., Apt. 3, Fall River, was charged with failing to stop after an auto accident with damaging resulting to the other vehicle, and driving with a suspended license. Mr. Ferreira was charged around 4:15 a.m., after he was picked up by Tiverton Police on an arrest warrant, police said.
